Hi everyone,
I posted here quite frequently in the days before I returned for my second stint in Korea. I turned down unigwon jobs and others, only to let a recruiter blow sunshine up my ass and come to this. I don't want to sit here and whine and grope about everything that's wrong with this place and the robot, I mean woman who runs it but needless to say, it's been about 7 weeks and I want out. If you want to know the reasons, I'll cover them specifically later but they really aren't important for this post IMO.
Have you ever quit a hagwon and successfully found a new job without a ton of hassle? What was the process? What about immigration. Do tell, I would be very obliged. |

without a hassle... ugh no, there was definitely a hassle but you can get out.
start looking for public school jobs.
write a letter of resignation to your current employer.
after your last day of work, you and your boss have 15 days to go to immigration together and cancel your visa.
the visa has to be canceled by mutual understanding and good terms from both parties.
you will receive a 30 day exit order in your passport.
you'll then have 30 days to get hired at a new school and get a notice of appointment for your visa run.
once you do your visa run, you're done. and hopefully happy with your new job.
this is the only way to go about it if you havent completed 6 mos yet. you have to get a new visa. you'll have to pay your employer back for any airfare or whatever else was provided. lucky for me, none of that was provided, not even an apt, so i owed them nothing. you'll also need your diploma and a set of sealed transcripts... you'll prob have to get your docs together again too.
the only reason why my last school cooperated so much is bc i threatened to have them investigated by the labor board.
all the bs is well worth it once ur in a good public school. i couldnt be happier... im making the same, if not more money (tax free now) and working far less hours.
good luck! |
