i've taught in korea for about four years. i'm back in the states now and trying to put together another contract. my last negotiation fell through at the last moment - the director got extra shady on me and misrepresented the airfare, stating the terms only AFTER i'd been given my Visa number. there'd been red flags earlier, but this was the final straw - the deal collapsed. I received the Visa number, but did not get the actual visa through the consulate. the director sent me back my diploma, but the transcipts and CRC + Apostille were "held by immigration."
My questions are: 1. Can I transfer that visa number to another school?
2. Can a new number be given me using the documents that immigration already has (ie. alleviating the need to send a new round of docs)?
I went ahead and got a new CRC + Apostille, but am interested in saving time.
3. Can I make copies of my CRC + Apostille and get them notarized for emergency use (as spares)?
4. One more question: Can I send immigration a copy of my diploma that has been notarized?
any insights would be appreciated. |

Short answers to your questions.
1) No. It is unique to that particular application and sponsorship.
2) No. You need a new set of documents - it is a new visa application (just like the US does when people apply for a visa to go there - reciprocal treatment).
3) No. Each copy requires an original apostille and some documents, like the CRC, are only good for 6 months after issue.
4) notarized and has an apostille attached, YES.

ttompatz,
thanks for the answers. tell me this - will that previous visa number interfere with getting another number? once again, it was just a number issuance, not a visa. is it just a straight forward reapplication? thanks. |

Yes, it may cause a problem.
Immigration usually WON'T issue a new one when you have one outstanding.
They expire after 90 days.
Depending on how long ago it was issued you may be waiting until August before you can try again.

ttompatz, thanks for the heads up. a recruiter mentioned it may cause trouble if the director hadn't canceled the number. he was going to check on it. i will send the director an e-mail, but his shadiness may prevent him from doing the right thing. thanks again. |
