Is there anybody in Seoul who would be interested in friendship and/ or helping me improve my German? I lived in Germany before coming to Seoul I would hate to forget what I've learned!
Thanks,
Becky. |

I'd recommend you look for a German Language school and join a conversation class. I joined a French Language school in Korea. I'm pretty sure there must be one or two German Language schools in Seoul. Usually adult classes are in the evenings or at the weekend.
Maybe type this into Naver or Daum ....독일 언어 학교 학교 서울
...and see what you find. Good luck. |

Hi OP,
There are certainly a number of posters on this site who speak or are studying German, and it may be that some have already contacted you. In addition to finding a conversation partner, I would suggest downloading some language learning programs such as:
Pimsleur German
German with Michel Thomas
Rocket German
Download the above via torrent sites as they are pretty expensive otherwise.
A good book on grammar is,
Schaum's Outlines: German Grammar (Schaum's Outlines: German Vocabulary is also good, however focussing on situational German rather than conversational). You will need to order these from abroad (Amazon) or get What the Book? in Itaewon to order them for you.....I've not see these books anywhere in Korea.
Dorling Kindersley have produced a great picture dictionary.....you can find it in most big book stores here.
As regards websites,
http://www.german-flashcards.com - great vocabulary builder.....I don't think it is worth paying for an upgraded membership if you are Intermediate or above. Once you sign up and choose the parameters for what it is you want to learn, they will send you a daily email with a phrase and some vocab to learn.
http://www.verbix.com/ - great for verb conjugation.
http://dict.tu-chemnitz.de/ - one of the best online dictionaries I have found.
Streaming radio over the internet whilst you are at home is also a good way to immerse yourself in the language. Deutsche Welle also has a range of quality podcasts that you can download; I especially like Langsam Gesprochene Nachrichten (Slowly spoken news).
Aside from that, just try and download as many German movies as you can. There is a great 24 hour long movie called 24 Hour Berlin that you can watch for free online,
http://mubi.com/24hberlin?from_theauteurs=1
In addition, change your Facebook page to German, your operating language on your iPod to German, etc. |
