If I decide to midnight run and leave without letting my school know before hand.

What are the legal ramifications that can happen?
What is the worst case scenario/best case?

ramifications:
They can sue for breach of contract (unlikely but possible).

They could file a complaint with immigration for outstanding money owed to them for airfare (if they bought the ticket). (possibly prevent you from getting an E2 for a while).

Best case - no money owed for airfare - you leave and return and get a new job.

Worst case - you have to wait until your current visa expiry date to get a new job.

that's assuming the OP wants to come back.

if they don't, the ramifications are exactly nil.

I did the midnight run in Feb. and I have had no problems. Yes they reported me to immigration, but I am getting my pension, and I'm not planning on returning before Sept. 2010 - definitely not to Daegu. Most likely unless it is an International School where I can teach Eng. & music, I won't be going back.
