I know there is a difference between NTSC and PAL but I don't know alot about either.

Is it possible to bring a small DVD player to Korea along with your favorite DVDs, and will they work plugged into your Korean TV (using an adapter of course) ?

Or do most of you just get the players once you're in Korea and just buy new DVDs ?

Just curious !!

dvds are 3 or 4 for 10,000 won (about $9)

internet is fast and cheap for downloads.

leave your dvds or else just copy your faves onto an external hard drive and bring that.

you can buy a small personal dvd player here for about 100,000 won that will play all regions, take it home and hook it up to a tv or computer and watch any dvd on it you like.

ok? Very Happy

1. Yes. I you can bring a small DVD player to Korea. I believe that Target and Walmart both have models that are $30 or less. Most will have composite connectors (those red, white, and yellow connectors in the back) which is fairly universal.

2. The decision to bring your own will depend on whether you have the space in your luggage, whether you already own one, if you feel uncomfortable navigating Korean controls, if you're particular to a certain brand, etc.

Pirated DVDs are fairly commonly found if you're into that sort of thing.

Thanx guys for the replies !!

It makes sense that if you can get a universal player there then there is really no need to bring one with me. I know how to download and burn movies so that sounds like it would be the best way.

Thanx for the info.

It's the region you have to worry about. If you want to bring DVDs with you, you're either going to need to rip them first to break the region coding, then burn them back, or bring a Region 1 DVD player.
