I'm trying to update my site with pictures and stuff that I have on a diskette but at both the PC rooms I've tried I can't access the A drive on the computers. Is this regular or am I just unlucky today?

This place has A drives, I assume they are usable otherwise they wouldn't have them

Unlucky... but in PC bangs who knows what you're dealing with. With smoke and stupid kids jamming fingers and pencils everywhere, it's not the best environment for computer peripherals.

Had a chat with the PC room guy and got a computer where the A drive works. The new problem is that I don't seem to be able to upload right from the disk, and I can't save anything on this computer. How do people get around this? It's intensely frustrating.

Pick another PC bang? None of the ones I ever went to had any lock-outs on the drive. I could download as much crap onto it as I wanted and frequently did...

Once in a PC bang the owner came rushing over to stop me from putting something in the USB port- seemed a bit over the top since I was actually getting a piece of paper from my bag. Since then though I've been sneaky about plugging my flash card reader into the port and have never had a problem.

That's funny james, I used to do the sneaky thing as well with the card reader but then I found out the owner didnt care anyway.

Some PC bangs use software that autmoatically resets the computer to where it was when restarted and they can't be altered...really frustrating when you download something that requires a reboot.

Some of them lock the control panel and windows folders, but if you ask the ajushi they can undo the lock from their main computer.

many years ago the japanese made an A drive that was not standard. Are you sure the disks u are using and the drive that first wrote to it was standard.
--note: if the disk is screwed then you can never read it....it just won't work.

What i find is that it can be kinda hard to come by Confused
