|
|
Hello all,
It's been quite a while since I posted, but I knew I could reach out to the community here to help me out with my little project.
I am starting a new project which will involve a book and some classes. Right now I am working on the book which will be a collection of idioms, expressions and phrases from and about films. Really most of them are quotes from films that we now use commonly in English, but I would love to hear any suggestions people might have.
Film Idioms
1. cut to the chase
2. lights camera action
3. its showtime
4. silver screen
5. name up in lights
6. leading man/lady
7. A lister
8. thats the ticket
9. lock down
10. hit the mark
As I said, I am also trying to think of film quotes that are used in English such as:
Horror
They're heeeeeeeeeeeeere.
I see dead people.
Heres Johnny.
Its ALIVE!
We all go a little mad sometimes.
(I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti) Fuh, fuh, fugh, fuh, fuh.
Were gonna need a bigger boat.
Smile you son of a bitch.
The power of Christ compels you!
Rhee, rhee, rhee! (Shower scene from Psycho)
It's definitely a work in progress, but anything you would like to add I would really appreciate.
I am doing it by genre:
Horror
Action
Drama
Sci-fi
War
Comedy
Crime
Musicals
Westerns
TV
Cheers guys

|

that puzzzled me too. Then I figured it as "A-lister," someone from the A list. A really top star- like Leinardo DiCaprio or Tom Hanks.
as opposed to Kathy Griffiths or Kate Gosselin, who both would be on the D-list. Or the heifer list. either works. |
