So I'm going to tell a little story and could use some information regarding my options here. It's pretty straightforward, I got to Korea under a work visa (before registration I guess) to work at a hagwon, they wanted me to work longer hours and get paid less than what was discussed (the contract was rather flimsy so this is technically legal as far as I can tell, but still not what was agreed upon), I asked if there was a way to fix this situation with them, they said no, so I'm not working there anymore. So I have a visa #, no registration, and they're going to cancel my visa. I don't think they paid for anything yet, or if they did it was minimal (I paid most/all costs with the promise of reimbursement). So what are my options here?
If they cancel my visa, when do I need to leave? The lady at the immigration office said 30 days but I don't really trust her.
Can I get them to issue me the visa so I can swap it to another company? With the promise of reimbursement for their costs?
Is there any way to change the visa type to a D4 or something? I don't need to work right now and school would be fine with me.
Do I gotta just leave?
Does anyone have any resources they would recommend? The US Embassy was not helpful.
Thanks for any help you all can provide! |
