hi~
im thinking of applying for jobs in korea, (not a teaching job)
and im gonna apply for F4 visa as well,

ive been reading some posts and found that many people are
not satisfied with their teaching jobs so i wanted to apply for
finance or business companies, : )

i just wanted to know whether its competitive for a foreigner
to get a job in korea : (

im british but korean race : ) speak fluently in korean as well as english (obviously lol)

im gonna send out my CVs and cover letters to companies and
wondered if i ever have a chance of actually getting a job : (

getting a job in UK is so hard at the moment : ( if getting a job in korea is harder, may think twice about going : (

dont want to end up there with no money no job and no family : (

You will be competing with all the Korean university grads with family, friends and connections when you are looking for your job.

The good news is that you have "English teacher" as a fall-back position so you won't be stuck with "no money no job and no family".

Gonna be tough and extra tough from abroad.

If you have a degree at least it will make things a bit easier.

The only way I would tell someone to come teach in Korea is if they said they were willing to fight for teacher rights.

If you are good with finance and business with some credible experience, you'll be ok.

Before I came to Korea, I was on Dave's constantly...reading the horrible things people had to say about Korea. After being here a few months, I decided to go on and check out what people were saying AFTER I was here. My advice is...a lot of people on this forum who bitch and complain came to Korea for all the wrong reasons. Sure there are legitimate problems with teaching in Korea...but a good number of people absolutely love it here. When I got here, I was surprised by how many people have been here 3-5 years.

Koreans are very competitive...so make sure if you don't want to be a teacher that you know what you are getting into by entering the workforce. You can be vomiting at work but you still stay...and plan on working A LOT of hours.

As a foreign teacher, we get to school after the Koreans and go home before the Koreans...and get paid better. We get treated a lot differently because we are the foreign teacher...but I'm not sure it'd be the same if you had a different position.

A thing to remember when negotiating and dealing with Koreans is that you have to be extremely firm and stern on your decisions to get what you want from them. Otherwise, you'll end up just like many of the whiners in this forum.

im quite familiar with korean cultures and how firm i have to be with koreans
im just worried that with no job, id have no money :S

ive just graduated with a Chem BSc

and i know its far fetched but have some experience in translating and interpreting for business type conferences and documents : ) so maybe this is a plus side ;;

i heard from someone that its not essentially to have a business degree so im hoping my degree wont do ne harm,

it seems like its really competitive in korea for jobs
and its really hard to get a job here in UK as well,

Advice is an uncountable noun. you can say "I need SOME advice" though!
