I will be working for this company (specifically in Daegu) starting next month, and I wanted to get the opinion of anyone who has worked for this company. Anyone is fine, but if you have specifically worked for the one in Daegu that's a plus. I'm just looking for an overall opinion of how things are run as well as how they treat their teachers. My recruiter has been really awesome, but I know some recruiters don't stick with the teacher after they're placed in a job so I thought to ask around.

it's a chain so they all can run pretty differently. ask to talk to another teacher there or the one you're replacing. the recruiter should be able to provide someone if it's on the up-and-up.

Worked for an EBY franchise in Incheon. The only thing the headquarters did for us was not renew their own contract with the franchise because of the way the franchisee treated its foreign employees. Well, they also begged us a lot to keep the EBY name out of any litigation or petition for government action.

I actually read your story on a previous post you made when I did a search for this school. My fiance works at a school in Daegu for high-class families and her boss really likes me. She has a lot of pull with many school owners in Daegu so hopefully she could put the word out not to screw around with me, hehe.

As with all of the chains, how you are treated will be different depending on the branch....but I worked at E Bo Young for a year and it was fine for what it was...we were paid on time, the books were crappy but "OK" compared to crappier hagwon books.

Which branch did you work at?

My friend worked for one in Daegu, not sure all the details but they couldn't afford to keep him there for the whole year so he got sent to another franchise in a different city. This was over 2 years ago though.

Isn't that illegal though? I thought your visa is tied directly to your job and you can't switch like that (although maybe you can since it's the same brand of school... not certain though).

It's easy to change jobs when both employers and the employee all agree, cooperate and do the paperwork with Immigration - do the forms, pay the fee, one day process, get your passport and updated ARC back from Immi by mail in a week or sometimes faster.
