I remember reading somewhere on this board something about entering Korea with an ordinary E2 and then converting it to multiple entry.
How is that done? |

Just fill out a form and pay a little extra at immigration. If you already have your initial visa, then they might be able to do it on the spot or they will want that.
I am not sure about the ARC card. I would get that while you apply for the multiple entry visa. Wait 2 weeks, and you should get it back. |

There are several ways to get re-entry privileges.
1) when you apply for your ARC you can tick the extra box on the top of the application for a multi entry permit, pay an extra 50k won and you are good for your year.
2) apply any time AFTER you have your ARC at your local immigration office and get a multi-use re-entry permit (50k won + application form). done while you wait.
3) apply at the airport on your way out of Korea. (do this BEFORE you check in for your flight). Takes 15-40 minutes. Good for single use (but you can get them as often as necessary). cost is 30k won.
caveat:
You MUST have (or applied for at the same time) your ARC before you can get re-entry privileges.
Brits get it free (reciprocal treatment).
Americans may or may not need a re-entry permit (sometimes they get multi-entry visas). |

I just wanted to add to ttompatz's (as always spot-on) info that you can also get your re-entry permit online via e-application at http://www.g4f.go.kr/pt/CvlapplInfoPageR_en.pt?locale=en&cvlapplTitleNm=true. As with many Korean sites, it works best in Internet Explorer and requires you to allow some Active X installation. |

When you go to get your ARC (Alien Registration Card) the form to get the card also has a box to check to get the multiple re-entry. Its 50,000 won. |
