Just looking to rent a nice, clean, condo/house RIGHT on the beach with nice clear blue water. Phillipeans? Thailand? Malaysia?
Recommendations? |

How long do you want it for and what season? It makes a BIG difference in both price and availability.

Aren't we all making at least 7 here?
Back on topic, ttompatz is right-- let me add HUGE difference.
Houses/Apartments in not-so-foreign-touristy-but-still-on-the-beach Hua Hin Thailand, for instance, go from about U$ 300+/month in low season to minimum 600+ during high season. Also, keep in mind that many of the places that are right ON the beach with houses/apts (not just guesthouses/bungalows) mean pretty developed areas that aren't too condusive to peace and tranquility. (Think Pattaya w/skyscraper hotels on the waterfront).
Probably better deals are to be found if you're willing to be a couple of hundred meters off the beach on bit of a hill with ocean views and still have quiet beaches a 5 minute walk away or so. Check out places for rent in Ko Lanta in Thailand for such an environment. |

Don't know if this will help cause it was a couple years ago.
I spent a week in a bungalow on Ko Phagnan(sp), Thailand. I stepped out into sand, was 20 m from crystal clear water in a cove on the western side of the island. It was super cheap and super quiet. Nothing but the sound of the waves all day and night.
Granted this was in November, but I wouldn't go to Thailand in the summer anyway. |

I would suggest Kho Phi Phi, Thailand. I was there first week of August last year, and spent the equivalent of 50 U.S. Dollars/night on a pretty nice beach bungalow. I found this site to be the best for finding bungalows in Thailand: http://hotelatm.com/ If memory serves, they had a lot of "pay 6 nights get 7th free" deals or something like that. I only stayed there 4 nights. |

Low season, cabin/bungalow, no kitchen, private bath, on the beach for about US$20-30/night in any of the above locations.
High season, same room, US$50-100 per night.
