Hi guys, probably you have heard this millions of times already. Been looking to buy a NIkon D90 in seoul. Searched a few places including Danawa.com ... The price range varies everywhere.

Anyone knows where in seoul is the best and cheapest place to get the camera? I am looking for a new camera.. thanks

Know the price range you are willing to pay and head for Yongsan or Namdaemun (to the east of the gate).

Personally, I like the top floor of the Nanjin Arcade at Yongsan. In the door and down the left hand isle ... about 3 from the end on the left side.

I got decent deals on my Nikon D40 kit when I bought it and decent pricing and ad-ons with a couple of point and shoot cameras over the years.

I have had decent prices on glass from the place with the big yellow sign at Namdaemun as well.

Know your price, know your product and you can match the best you can find on-line.

.

I like Hyosung Camera in Namdaemun. Paul there speaks English. You might get a better price elsewhere if you're lucky.

thanks guys, i will go to namdaemun next saturday. Will check it out Hyosung camera and some other shops nearby. I was told the shop called "yesdica" is gd too..not sure how true.

Searching at danawa for price range gives me some results. Some of the camera listing says, "parallel import" and "gibon set" any idea wat they mean?

I assume it means they are grey market products. Am i right?

and if any others have any more shop recommendations do let me know. I will check out those shops too... lol..

thanks for help guys

Sorry. I was in a sarcastic mood. Remember to pay with cash. They give you a better deal. Or in some places they do.

I'm glad someone has started this thread. I'm also looking for a D90 and since I live a fair distance from Seoul (and off any subway line) I'm interested in how this turns out. I've looked online and my boss is willing to help me purchase one online if it's easier and cheaper.

"parallel import" indicates it's a grey stuff, "gibon set" means it only comes with (usually) the camera and a single "bundle lense".

most online shops sell in packages, with memory cards, card readers, tripods, cleaning set, ect.

if you don't need any of that stuff, go for "gibon set" (make sure it comes with a lense tho). but if you don't even need the lense, go for "body only" stuff.

you seem to know enough korean to use danawa and already know which model you want. why don't you just buy it from gmarket or interpark? i personally wouldn't even bother going to yongsan or namdaemun. when it comes to buying electronics in korea, nothing seems to beat the big g.

here are some links to more danawaish stuff

Thanks georgeperec for the info. I dont know korean, i used google chrome to translate the websites for me. So i see bits of english here and there. Lol. I will check out the above links.

Read some stories online about shops selling 2nd hand cameras as new ones. Thats why i thought of getting it from a shop personally. But if online seems worth a try, I wont mind getting from the websites too.

Anyone had bad experiences online?
