I assume dress pants, nice shoes.
How about shirts:
Long Sleeves? Short sleeves?
Standard white? Any colors (I assume solids)?
Necktie?
Every day? |

Wifebeater with ketchup/mustard and blood stains.
A pair of boxer shorts...a few of them have holes.
A pair of sandals.
I usually throw on an ajosshi inspired jewel-encrusted pink tie on top of this ensemble so people will respect me. |

you dont have to wear a suit, but avoid jeans, that is the general rule in a public school. I was also told, years ago, look at what the older teachers wear and follow their lead. |

I found it doesn't make a difference in the long run. |

No, it doesn't really. Most of the teachers who are grooming themselves to make it to head teacher>vice principal>principal usually wear slacks and dress shirts (about 70% of the time with a tie). The rest of the teachers putting in their hours until pension time usually wear (clean untorn) jeans with some type of casual shirt with a collar. |

I wear jeans, sneakers, and a nice shirt or sweater. I dress as nicely as the lowest dressed teachers at my school. Technically I am not even a teacher, just an assistant, and I am under no illusions about my place. There are some who will tell you that you should wear a suit or people will not respect you. Those people are wrong (unless you like wearing a suit, or whatever, in which case, go for it!) |

"I dress as nicely as the lowest dressed teachers at my school."
That's what the guy above me just said. But, I think u got it wrong. To be on the safe side....dress better than the worst dressed guy there. Korean's as you might know place a lot of importance on how one is dressed. If it is your first time meeting them (like at the airport, new teacher arrival) suit and tie will earn u points. just be able to back it up everyday at work. |

I hardly think that you need to look polished after a 15 hour flight from your home country.
As for dress at work: wear a nice shirt (polos are fine) and trousers. Khakis are fine. At public schools, you take off your shoes and wear sandals anyway, so wear some nice sneakers or comfy shoes. It's really up to you. |

Depends on the school. I've worked in schools where every guy wears a suit and tie for most of the year, with the exception of the summer months. And I've also worked in schools where most of the teachers just wear slacks and a collared shirt. |

I most often wear jeans, a nice shirt or sweater, and nice shoes.
The only reason I wear jeans is I'm always crouching or kneeling to talk to the students for speaking activities which I do everyday.
I know my school is fine with it as many of my coworkers wear jeans. The only people who don't are the administrative staff, Principle, and VP. |

it definitely depends upon your school. i'd say dress really nicely for the first week or so and then just take your lead from what korean teachers your age are wearing.
as for the jeans, i'm probably one of the only teachers that wears them at my current school, however as long as they're dark-wash, no holes/rips, the teachers don't seem to mind. i've found if i wear something a little faded, i get a couple of surprised looks (but no one says anything). |

I normally wear khakis and a decent button up or polo. I find that puts me right about in the middle in terms of level of dress the other teachers maintain. I think I'm the only one that wears khakis, they all seem to prefer dark colours. |
