Despite all the buzz about South and North conflicts, I would still like to go on a DMZ tour before I leave. I have heard the USO is probably the best bet as they take you to 3rd tunnel, JSA, and observation deck.
Is there website in particular to go on to schedule a trip. It would be on a Saturday at the end of June. I tried navigating the USO Korea website and came across another site (koriorder?) that wasn't organized well.
Any tips and insights? |

Hi there,
You have to book through the Koridoor website. There should be an email address there for a woman called Joanna. She will help you out. We went last month; I'm not sure if they're still running tours in light of the current political situation. If you do go, remember your passport. A girl on our trip was denied entry as she left hers at home.
Also, I'd recommend bringing your own lunch. The food available sucks! |

Go with low expectations. It's the best tour for the DMZ, but it's still the DMZ and pretty boring...
"There's North Korea. We can't go there. Any questions?" |

I thought the tour was very enjoyable and informative... definitely a must-do while here. You can also pick up North Korean soju from the gift shop at the 3rd tunnel... a great present for folks back home.
Definitely do the full deal... the JSA is the best part of it, but as others have said, go with low expectations. The tour I went on was an all-dayer, and the whole thing built up to the JSA... then we were there for about 10 minutes. I was a little disappointed by the lack of North Korean soldiers... there was only one, and he was standing way back by Panmun-Ga, the building on the North side... all I got was a few grainy photos of one guy looking through his binoculars at us. I was hoping to see at least a few Nork soldiers, and preferably much closer, but apparently they only bring their security details out when they have a tour going through on their end.
Have fun. |
