				| Was thinking we could bounce off ideas in here abd mybe share some materials.
I don't really enjoy the chaos that is involved in organising the camps.
I work in elementary so we are usually just designated topics and have to go from there.

Was wondering if anyone has any materials for the world / culture that would suit elementary ?

I have lots of materials for the body / music if that helps anyone shoot me off a pm.

				| Why slow the flow of information by using PMs?
Cooking day is always a hit and surefire way to burn 2 hours (prep / eating / cleanup) if you are good, then it will eat 4 hours (entire day).

Mini- olympics is fun, the kids love it and you can be the B0SS sitting in the shade, drinking lemonade if you are really bold

I'm curious about music day. How do you work this out?

				| Music day for me was :
 -Start off with musical chairs,
 -PPT of different musical instruments,
-Some vocab to describe music ,
-Play ten different genres of music get kids to score them from 1-10 and describe them using previously learned vocab,
-Kids give kids some instruments like drums , xylophone etc and the make a band come up with a name and design a poster / symbol for their band.Let the kids practice for a while and then they perform their song and vote for the best group.

This should eat up 3 hours anyway depending on how long you can listen to the kids make a racket when they are practising.

Olympics sounds good but I got stuck with the body and the world / culture this year.Considering the idea of a world cup if I can get away with it. Like I said if anyone has any brainwaves for this topic let me know.

				| hey, beckett
you can fit sports in with Body & the World.
That's what the Olympics is about isn't it? Fitness (body) Cometition (World)

Depends how you market it to your higher ups.

Students may make shadow puppets (or real ones) for the hands, design their own clothing, compare & contrast the body parts of humans and different animals- that could stretch on for two days man. TWO DAYS

				| As part of or in attition to a comprehensive plan on how you will reach specific language goals, come up with some kind of project to break-up the time and have some fun. Maybe two teams, so you can spend at least one hour - 90 mins on it, with maybe two - three hours on the last day.
Projects I have done in the past are:

 - Create teams and have each team come up with a team mascot. Make up posters rooting for their team. It just opens up speaking in English to describe what they are making and what it symbolizes. Take off from there on teaching opportunities to help them express their ideas.

-A Caveman to English translation of the Blur Studio video of In the Rough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQdqaSITVyI

-Pick a movie to show in class and then write movie reviews in pairs or teams, that will be published (I just publish mine on free website I start for the class).

You can combine all three, have them make the mascots and posters as teams to do the Caveman to English translation and then have as a group write a review of In the Rough
