After having to work with a co-teacher I did not like for a whole year with SMOE (which is winding down now), I have to ask those with after school gigs: are you forced to co-teach, or is it optional? |

Usually, you never co-teach. I only had classes with my co-teacher for special events. Parents pay extra and they want to have a native English speaker talking to their children. Otherwise, they would just send them to a hagwon. Afterschool classes are supposed to be cheaper in their mind, so they need to see the benefit.
On the bright side, you won't have a hagwon owner or principal breathing down your back. You can pretty much do whatever you want. |

Korean teachers have lots of responsibilities outside of teaching. Just let them sit at the back and do their paperwork with the agreement that they intervene if you need them for translation/discipline. This will keep everyone happy. If you can handle the classes alone let them sit in the teachers room . Sometimes they learn more when everything isn't being translated |
