Hi everyone,

Im staying in the Philippines in mid July for about 7-8 days. I want to check out Bantayan because ive heard good things, but also want to spend some time in Cebu since I assume Bantayan doesnt have much of a nightlife.

Anyone know of any good places to stay in Bantayan? and is it just me or are most hotels in Cebu more in the city and not on a beach?

looking for a place for 4 people...

any suggestions are appreciated!

There are NO beaches in Cebu city (they are all over on Mactan Island - where the airport is). They have small beaches and run from $80 - $250 per night per room (double occupant).

There are beaches in Cebu province (but you will be somewhat isolated from anything resembling night life.

You can get decent hotels (business types -3*) in the city (close to Ayala mall) for about p1500 per night (double occupant).

Metro Park Hotel is a great budget hotel in Cebu. Even has a decent swimming pool! Some of the larger hotels on Mactan will let you use their beaches for an entrance fee..500p!

Cebu is easy to get around in and taxis are cheap. Metro Park is also close to the "Sunflower Disco" always a fun night on Thursdays...ladies night!

Ahhhhh Bantayan.

EXCELLENT, excellent choice. I have never understood why most ESL teachers in Asia choose to go to Cebu and only do Bohol/Panglao.

Bantayan >>>>>> both of them.

I have always stayed at Budyong Beach Resort. They have an absolutely perfect stretch of beach that in low tide, creates a small "pool" in the ocean break (you'll see what I mean if you go there Smile), its cheap, and its relatively close to Santa Fe. The owners are really sweet as well.

Bantayan is really really wonderful.... I just hope you aren't a single going there for nightlife, because if you are - you might be really disappointed! But with a lover.... its a great, great place.
