Does anyone text internationally often? If so- do you have an intl texting plan on your cellphone or did you find some other cheap way of doing it?
I am trying to figure out how to text internationally cheaply when I get to Korea in a few months. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks! |

I text intl for free on my touch. Text plus is the app I think, if you have a touch or are gonna get an iphone here. 00700 for cheap texts on your phone.
I am sure there are websites that do it to. |

you can also text via email depending on the carrier. for example, i can text a verizon user at [email protected]. i know that ATT has a similar set up. do not know about other carriers. |

Use Skype. You won't be able to do it from your phone, but you get a year of unlimited calling and texting to the US and Canada for $30. I don't think they can text you back though. |

Haven't done it for a while, but I used to text occasionally by simply adding 001 before the country code, local area code and number. It worked fine, even when my brother was on a boat heading up Johnstone Strait. We went back and forth a few times before he got out of range on his phone. |

i think it depends on where you want to text to and what provider you have.
im with lg and i dont think i can txt internationally. or at least not to the countries i would want to.
china is possible, i think. japan, america, germany is not possible.
neither texting nor receiving.
so you should ask your provider whether your plan covers it and what you will have to do in order to be able to text internationally.
i know that some providers offer korean roaming. which means, you have a cdma/gsm phone that works in korea like a normal cell phone, but once you leave the country the sim card they have given you with the phone will take over. |
