|

Hello,
I have some friends visiting Korea next week and they all want to go to Dr. Fish. I've heard about a cafe (perhaps in Gangnam) where you drink coffee/eat bread and stick your feet in a pool of fish.
Has anyone been here? If so how do you get there and is it worth it? |

My wife and mom went to one in Nowon. She said it was something like 3,000 won for 15 minutes, and that was all you really needed. My wife liked it because they ate up alot of the dead skin. My mom, not so much, because she has really ticklish feet.
I can tell you were the one in Nowon is, but don't know about the Gangnam one. |

I know of a spa in Gangnam that has Dr. Fish, and I will try to give you the best directions that I can. I don't know the name of it.
If you take any bus to Shinnonhyeon Station (used to be called Kyobo Tower Sagori) ---the bus stop is in the middle of the road---you want to cross to the side of the street where the new Krispy Kreme opened. Just walk over the cross walk to the side of the street and the cafe is on the second floor in the building directly across from the crosswalk.
Tomorrow I will take better note of direction and I will get the name and phone number for you and repost. |

Thanks for this! If you know directions from a subway exit that would be best. I have to take the subway into Gangnam. |

I went to the one in Gangnam last year. I have ticklish feet too so was tough at times but soooo worth it. (No more details as u may be eating lol).
Now we just need them to copy the Japanese craze for 'geramanium' treatments and I will be in heaven. |

Okay. So, you can take Gangnam Station exit 6 and walk a few blocks straight...you'll pass The Body Shop, Giordano, Cafe Pascucci, and the new Krispy Kreme. You will see Basic House on your left hand side, and Park Jun's Beauty Lab is on the second floor in that building, right above Basic House. They didn't have the phone number on the building, so I didn't get it.
Good luck! |

I went to Namu Geuneul in Sinchon. I give it a good reference, in case you care. Nice atmosphere. |

There's one in Myeongdong (in the street market area) as well. I haven't been in. I just saw the sign out front. |

I hate to rain on your fish parade, but there was a show on Koreans TV a few years on the Dr.Fish phenomenon. Turns out they they are pretty unhygienic and you could be at risk for certain rashes and diseases contracted from the pools the fish are in.
Sorry I don't know so much about the details, but I think it stems from the fact that the water isn't changed after each group of customers. So there could have been endless amount of feet in the water before you got there. It's like going to get a pedicure and using the same bath of water that the last 10 guests have used.
Just a heads up so you know what you are getting into...
Here's a link to mull over: http://www.asiaone.com/Health/Women%2527s%2BMatters/Story/A1Story20080825-84184.html
"He added that the water in the tanks are changed every two to three days." |
