Hi,
My situation is that I am a UK citizen who is currently residing in New Zealand and has been for the past 8 months, looking at teaching English in Korea.
My basic question is can you apply for the required Visa while being abroad if I am able to gather the required documents from the UK and post them over to NZ?
Furthermore the criminal record check - do I need a New Zealand and a UK check because I have been here more than 6 months? I tried to ask directly to an agency but didn't receive a reply.
Apologies if this is the wrong forum!
Thanks. |

The answer is yes. I did the exact same process as Canadian in NZ. The only real extra step you need is to have the school that you'll be working for agree to have your degree verified by the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE). This also allows you to skip the consular interview.
You'll probably need a UK record check. My advice is to start the process as early as possible to have family/friends round up documents etc. for you. You'll need some stuff sent to NZ to give to the consulate and some stuff can just be mailed to SK straight from the UK.
Again, start this process early. I started about 4 months before I was due to leave NZ and wound up getting out of the country 2 days before my visa expired. |
