My director comes up to me this morning and tells me all foreign teachers in Seoul are required by Immigration to attend a three-hour training course on Saturday morning. He shows me the letter but it's in Korean, the brief English writeup has no information about what is being taught, whether we or the school or both will recieve any certificates, or by whose authority we're required to attend. I asked these questions and also whether I'll be paid for my time, and he says he'll look into it.
He comes back about 20 minutes later and tells me I don't have to go.
Does anyone have more information about this? If it's a legit training thing that I'll actually learn from I'd like to go, and if I really am legally required to go then obviously I will... but I'd really rather not go on such short notice (I had plans to go out of town this weekend) if it's a) not going to teach me anything and b) an unpaid excercise just to make my school look good.
Anything anyone knows would be super helpful. Thanks! |
