Hi all,
I'm going to change jobs this September. I'm leaving SMOE after two years to find a new job. I have some questions for anyone who has experience in this matter.
Will I need to get another copy of my criminal background check?
Will I need to get another copy of my transcripts? (sealed)
I have been contacted by several future employers and they all are asking for apostiled (spelling?) criminal background check and sealed transcripts.
Thats a lot of requested copies!
How do you do this? Request 10 apostiled criminal background checks? Request and pay for 10 copies of sealed transcripts? Sounds insane!
Any information would be helpful!
Or does SMOE still have these things on file and can provide them to...let's say, my new hagwon job?
Thanks! |

You have to get whole new set of documents. All the apostiled documents should be gotten within last 6 months.

dang, tahst a pain in the rump. Last time it took an age and somewhere in the region of 200 quid doing it just from all the bloody travelling back and forward. Its utterly bizarre that having lived in this country for the past year during my visa period that i would need ANOTHER apostilled crc. Its pretty unlikley that ive gone home on a massive crime spree since ive been er, here. But who am i to question the wisdom of them that has control over my visa? :/

Phone immigration and get the exact info you need. It only takes 10 minutes and you may find out something. What about letter of release? You worked there two years.

If you get a letter of release, you don't need any of that. You just go to the immigration office with your new boss and show them your new contract. Pay 80,000 if you want a multiple entry visa. All done, very simple. As long as you line up the new job to start when the last one finishes. You need a letter of release and a letter or form confirming period of employment. That last one is for you for future employment. I don't work for SMOE, but EPIK. My friend got a letter of release from the POE and is now happily working in a hogwan. Quite easy. But many people and some employers don't know what they're talking about. Ask SMOE for a letter of employment and a letter of release.
