OK here is a little quiz I came up with  . What is the Korean name for these subway stations? I've written their meaning in english:-
1) West Great Gate
2) Eagle mountain
3) Lonely Mountain
4) Place of Cranes
5) Gentleman
6) Great park
7) South of the river
Viii) River shore
9) Meditation Rock
10) Useless Island |

| I don't know about some of the others because I haven't looked them up, but Sinsa Station definitely does not mean Gentleman Station... |

Strangely, it's never occurred to me that the subway names might actually MEAN something.
Edit: I mean, are these "traditional" words or place names that don't make sense in modern Korean? |

Like in China and Japan, most place names are based on Chinese root words. So if you check out the Chinese written below the Korean, you can get a gist of what it means. Most place names worldwide are some historical reference to something, someone, or some event in the area. But in the end they are just place names. |

2) 수리 is upkeep or repair (修理)
3) 독 산 is bald mountain (禿山驛)
5) 신사 is new temple (新寺) |
