Ahhh Langcon...remember those times we had?
Langcon is a special type of hogwan that focuses on an English immersion environment. Meaning that almost everything is done in English on both the Native and the Korean side. They print their own books which are modeled after American texts. Content-wise they're half-decent.
The down side is that you'll be mostly teaching the younger sect: Grades 1-4 and the parents who are dishing out lots of money will expect progress and results.
Gangnam is a sweet section in Seoul and I know many a people who want to teach there. (Myself included) Mainly because it's the hogwan capital of Korea and almost all of the rich kids go there whcih translates into high expectations on the teachers part.
If you've got a chance to work in that area with Langcon you could do a hell of a lot worse. Just keep in mind the age of the students; they heavily slant to the primary/elementary side of the coin. |
