I switched from XP to Windows 7 last night. First impressions are really good!

Installation is simple and almost all drivers were installed automatically for except the webcam. Saves time installing a whole bunch of separate drivers! The internet automatically connected too. Setting up the dual screen was easy as pie. W7 automatically detected the TV and the correct screen resolution.

Generally the W7 interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. All in all, so far I'm very impressed. I might even buy a legit copy Very Happy

Most people are impressed with it. Hence the rave reviews and the high sales.

I think its the best OS so far. Easy to use, install is a synch, and it can run smoothly on my crappy netbook.

I have it on my HTPC and it kills. I'm going to install it on my netbook some time in the near future. The install of XP I have is a bit clogged up. I'm just hesitating because I have an ISO image of my favorite game running through a DVD mount, and I can't be bothered setting that up again. I'm hoping installing W7 will fix the WIFI issues I have. It drops all the time. Interesting. I know.

yeah, I set up a dual-boot with XP about a month or two back. Have booted XP once and only once since then, just to make sure it's still there. It's smooth and elegant. Even went legit, thanks to a $42 CDkey from ecrater. (Ultimate)

Yes, it is very intuitive. For example, Itunes will know where an mp3 is at all times, even if you move the actual file to another location the hard drive. In XP, you would have to manually search for it and tell iTunes where the mp3 is now located.

Yeah. I like it a lot.......but then, what do I know? I liked Vista!!

I wonder when Korean public schools and government will switch to W7.....It's a pain using XP in work then switching back to W7 at home.....I get mixed up sometimes trying to do things on XP that it doesn't do!

Wow, I was not aware of that. mp3s drive me insane. I listen to the same 20 songs most of the time because i misplace my files all the time.

My school is building a new English zone that will be chocker block, filled to the brim with XP laptops and virtual white boards. I tried to get my co-teach (who is over seeing the construction) to order W7 for the machines. It was like I was speaking a foreign language. She had no idea what I was talking about, and her English is pretty good.

The main issue is that school computers often use government software (like filtering) that will not run on Windows 7 machines.

The Korean software running on these computers need to be Windows 7 compatible before the schools can begin to upgrade their OS.

I wiped my school's hard drive and installed Windows 7. Surprisingly, I was able to access my school's network and the printers. Was a pain because I had to manually input all network settings. The hardest part was finding Windows 7 drivers for the Korean-model only Samsung printers.

How is W7 able to install drivers for so many pieces of hardware?

Are tonnes of drivers preloaded onto the installation DVD? Or is it scanning your system, downloading the correct drivers and then installing them? Or something else?

Despite all the whining, Vista was good. 7 is just a little better (although it annoys the hell out of me that I can't use a sidebar for the gadgets).

This. Practically every driver known to man is loaded on that DVD.

This country will never move on from Windows XP. All the PC bangs, all the display kiosks, POS terminals, EVERYTHING is on XP.

Same is true of any other country though. Eventually they will have to move on. Alternative browsers are getting some market penetration. Most of my students know what I mean if I say Pah e oh Pox uh. They seem to prefer "Googul." Of course the majority still fire up IE6.

We watch a video on youtube in every one of my classes--morning english pop song--and every computer has XP and IE6, and several of the videos haven't worked because of IE 6. I have the install for English Firefox on my thumb drive, and anytime I have to use any computer I install it. Unfortunately the computers are set up to remove everything after every restart, so I have to reinstall every time.

Now, as some may know, Youtube in IE6 gives a message showing you browser is out of date. It comes up in Korean, here, obviously. I showed my co-teacher, and told her what I knew it meant, and she's like yeah, but I am not good with technology. :/

Once NAVER stops working, then we'll see upgrades.
