I have been a trekkie for years but didn't watch for a long time. Nowadays, I have an itch to watch re-runs. I thought I'd start a discussion on Star Trek on here.

1. Out of the 5 shows, which was your favourite? Least favourite?

2. Which show had the best crew?

3. Which show had the best theme?

4. Who was your favourite captain? Least favourite?

5. Which was your favourite movie? Least favourite?

6. If there is another movie, which crew would you like to see?

7. Would you like to see another Star Trek show in the future?

8. Any really memorable episodes? Any really terrible ones?

Any other comments?

1. I feel the best show was TNG but my heart wants to say Voyager. I loved Voyager. Worst show was the original Star Trek. I was born too late and could never get into it.

2. Voyager's crew had great chemistry. Worst crew for me was DS9. Nary a memorable or likeable character.

3. TNG, due to the huge lapse between the original and TNG. I loved Voyager too but I think the Borg theme was overdone.

4. Picard was the best, Kirk was the worst. I didnt much like Sisko either. He talks like a stage actor.

5. First Contact as great, as was the one wth the Picard clone and that awesome Romulan ship. I especially hated Star Trek 1 and the one with the whale.

6. I'd love to see a TNG/Voyager crossover.

7. I would love it.

8. There was a really awful episode of Voyager where Janeway and Paris turned into lizards after going to Warp 10. The tribble episode sucked, as did almost every episode of DS9 that was about Bajor and the prophets.

I seem to have a hate-on for almost every 1st officer. I didn't like Riker much, I hated Kira, and Chakotay couldn't act at all.

Each series seemed to have a non-humanoid character who struggled with his/her identity and tried to be human or something. Data was awesome of course. The Doctor was an excellent actor. Seven of Nine was decent but of course she was eye-candy first and foremost. I never liked Odo. All he ever did was complain.

Kirk: What happened?
Spock: The opcipidal lobe of my head made direct contact with this console ( or something to that effect, the delivery was just perfect.)

1. My favorite of the series was Deep Space Nine. It was meant to be a much darker series than what we were used to, and that made it much more interesting. Granted, I loved all of the series, but that was my favorite.

2. Best crew was probably TNG. It was like the all star group of Star Fleet, so I enjoyed it a lot.

3. Theme? As in music, well that would probably be Star Trek: TNG. As for theme meaning the basic premise, well I'd then say that Deep Space Nine wins there as well because it was such a rich universe they created in that series.

4. Favorite captain is definitely Jean-Luc. Sisko comes in close behind him, as does Kirk with his William Shatnerisms.

5. Favorite movie was First Contact for the new group and Star Trek IV for the old group. Liked the new movie, so not having a problem there either.

6. I'd like to see a crossover movie where pretty much the whole Star Fleet universe got used in one huge epic, maybe even doing what one of the book series did when it ran the book series over all of the different series.

7. I'd like to see something done with one of the other races of the galaxy, like the Klingons or the Romulans.

8. Yesterday's Enterprise is still one of my favorite episodes (from TNG) where the Enterprise C returns, which disrupts the time line, putting the Federation into a war with the Klingtons.

1. TNG defined it for me, I wasn't much into Star Trek before it came out. My least favorite is probably the new movie that sacrificed any kind of interesting plot or character development for special effects flair and referential sentimentality.

2. The original had the best crew, or at least established the archetypes that later shows worked with and expanded upon.

3. Either TNG or Voyager. The themes wear thin after you've heard them a hundred times while watching through the series.

4. Picard is definitely a favorite for sheer acting chops. Sisko may have been a captain, but (thankfully) wasn't the focus of much of DS9.

5. My favorite movie, for nostalgic reasons, is the first. Least favorite is either one of the terrible TNG abominations or the newest for aforementioned reasons.

6. They can't very well go back and use one of the older crews, so ideally it would be a new one. The latest movie's crew did nothing for me.

7. Star Trek is such an open ended concept, there's the potential for a new series. Maybe further in the future with a new crew involved with some of the advancements they hinted at in TNG, DS9 and Voyager.

8. While DS9 had a lot of mediocrity and by far the worst ending, some of the standalone episodes featuring O'Brien were the most memorable of the entire franchise. Interesting sci fi concepts with outstanding character development and acting. For worst, someone mentioned the Voyager episode where they turned into lizards after going past warp 10 (impossible, since the warp scale was designed as a logarithmic one that doesn't even go to ten) was just a debacle and flew in the face of everything that was Trekkie.

There's a great guide to most of the series (minus Enterprise, which I've never seen anyway) here:

I'm disappointed they didn't make a Voyager movie. Every thing about Voyager had it going on, but was under rated. It was so highly scientific and well thought out. Very intellectual. The producers new a thing or two about military operations. Too bad it wasn't made in HD. I'd like to see another good Star Trek series come out. I wasn't all that impressed with the latest movie. What happened to the science fiction genre? It's so expensive to produce and highly technical to work out. It takes a producer, artists, and actors/actresses willing to put work over profits to crank out a great sci-fi. Something increasingly hard to come by now with the exception of Avatar which was guaranteed to be a hit due to the 3D experience it put on.

As a kid, I quite liked TNG.

I really got into Voyager because I watched it from the beginning. I didn't see it all the way through though, RL stuff started happening.

Never got into DS9 but I caught a few episodes when they were terrified of.. umm.. shape changers or something? I felt like I could have got into that but I didn't.

Didn't watch the newest series.

The latest movie was a bit of a disappointment. I had high hopes before it came out. But.. I can't even remember what it was about now. That is a damning indictment.

If there was a new Star Trek series that was as cool as Battlestar Gallactica I'd be pretty keen on watching it. I think a lot of people would like a high budget scifi spaceship show.

Right now, is there ANY decent scifi show going on? A few years ago you had battlestar gallactica and also a star trek show.. what's happening now?
Anything good in the works?

As a trekkie, it worries me to see open admiration of Voyager Razz That show started bad and ended woefully. Did Harry Kim ever get laid??

1. Out of the 5 shows, which was your favourite? Least favourite?

Later TNG makes for fantastic science fiction. And DS9 was deliciously dark and political. It was the closest Star Trek ever sailed to portraying life in the 24th Century as less than idyllic.

2. Which show had the best crew?

TNG without a doubt. A cerebral captain, a rogueish first officer, genius chief engineer, feisty chief medical officer and... Data Very Happy

3. Which show had the best theme?

DS9 and VOY both had nice, stirring orchestral pieces. VOY by a nose. I feel unclean Razz

4. Who was your favourite captain? Least favourite?

Well obviously Picard was the superior captain. A statesman, officer and a gentleman. The less said about Jonathan Archer, the better. And Kirk was an interplanetary sex criminal. You can take that either way. God knows he did!

5. Which was your favourite movie? Least favourite?

Wrath of Khan FTW. The new one wasn't bad, either. Either of the last two TNG films have to rank with the Star Wars Episode I in that special circle of hell devoted to shoddy spin-offs.

6. If there is another movie, which crew would you like to see?

Abrams is onto a good thing. I'm looking forward to the continuing mission of the USS iPod.

7. Would you like to see another Star Trek show in the future?

Yes, but only if they take the hint from the direction of television sci-fi since BSG (and frankly since DS9) and make it less utopian, more relateable and more relevant.

8. Any really memorable episodes? Any really terrible ones?

Favorite: Enterprise
Least: DS9

2. Which show had the best crew?
The Original Star Trek

3. Which show had the best theme?
Enterprise

4. Who was your favourite captain? Least favourite?
favorite: Kirk
least: Sisko (to much of a pansy when making decisions)

5. Which was your favourite movie? Least favourite?
the new Star Trek movie was my favorite
The Search for Spock was my least favorite

6. If there is another movie, which crew would you like to see?
Interested in seeing how the new Star Trek movies will turn out.

7. Would you like to see another Star Trek show in the future?
for sure.

8. Any really memorable episodes? Any really terrible ones?
fav episode:
DS9 - when the go back into time with those tribbles and they they had no idea the guys without the ridges at the next table were Klingons.
Voyager - when Tuvok remembers his service on the USS Excelcier with Captain Sulu.
terrible episodes:
When I see some of the earlier STNG ones I wonder how on earth I managed to watch a full episode.

Any other comments?
I kind of didn't like the new time line in the new Star Trek movie. But after seeing the movie it thought, it's okay. I guess that's the only thing Abrams could do, since trying to redo old stories probably wouldn't turn out too well.

The original is always best. Same here. Quit imitating and start creating. Hollywoos pumps out 100 crap movies for every decent one.

1. Out of the 5 shows, which was your favourite? Least favourite?

Favorite: TNG
Least: Enterprise

2. Which show had the best crew?

TNG - genuine bond with each of the characters.

3. Which show had the best theme?

Voyager.

4. Who was your favourite captain? Least favourite?

Picard was immense and was the best man-manager I've ever seen! Sisko was far too statesmanlike to be believable.

5. Which was your favourite movie? Least favourite?

First Contact but I was absolutely gutted in Nemesis when Data "died". Least favorite was Insurrection.

6. If there is another movie, which crew would you like to see?

TNG but as mentioned by a previous poster, cut down on the SFX and back it up with a great story.

7. Would you like to see another Star Trek show in the future?

Yes please!

8. Any really memorable episodes? Any really terrible ones?

Memorable:

TNG - Best of Both Worlds Pt. 1 & 2

Faces of the Enemy

DS9 - The Way of the Warrior

Terrible = anything from Enterprise!

I'm agreeing with everything craigmcc1982 said......it's all about TNG, Picard, Data and Voyager.

.......and let's not forget Seven of Nine......I really wish we could still post photos.

TNG

2. Which show had the best crew?

TNG

3. Which show had the best theme?

TNG

4. Who was your favourite captain? Least favourite?

Picarde of course. Enterprise series was least fav... don't know his name.

5. Which was your favourite movie? Least favourite?

Wrath of Khan was best... least was the first.

6. If there is another movie, which crew would you like to see?

The same as the last movie... the others are dated.

7. Would you like to see another Star Trek show in the future?

Yes... carrying on after the Voyager returns. But with the movie refit, may not work.

8. Any really memorable episodes? Any really terrible ones?

Inner light is the best... where Picarde lives another man's life on a world that ends. Terrible one's don't come to mind... sure there were some, but don't remember.

1. Favorite Show- A difficult call between TNG and DS9. I think DS9 had an overall higher quality and a greater number of great episodes. But there was simply no greater joy in Trek than Data observing something in his uniquely rational and scientific manner and the staff meetings that Picard would hold and the decisions he would make.

Least Favorite Enterprise/Voyager. Gave up on Voyager after 4 seasons, never even bothered with Enterprise. They just didn't seem like Trek.

2. Best Crew- In terms of acting, I'd say DS9. Brooks, Visitor, Meaney, Robinson, Auberjonois, Siddig, Alaimo, and Shimmermann all excelled. Spiner and Stewart beat any of DS9s top two and TNG's greater cast was not as good, though still solid.

A shout-out to Ro Laren on TNG. Pretty much every episode she was in I enjoyed.

Now the real battle is Stewart/Spiner vs. Nimoy/Shatner/Kelley. TOS was somewhat hampered by production restraints and cultural factors in developing its secondary cast.

3. Best Theme- TNG.

4. Favorite Captain- Easy, Picard. The moral fiber in the character as well as his 'Renaissance Man' nature really captured the essence of the Star Trek philosophy. Time and time again in matters great and small Stewart/Picard lived the core values of the Federation.

5. Favorite Movie- Voyage Home. Highly entertaining and the best capture of the 'Trek' idea. Wrath of Khan was fun too. First Contact was good too.

Least Favorite- The new one. Utter abomination. Way too much action. Way too little Trek ideals.

Compare the Trek of I, Borg in which Picard refuses to use a WMD against the Borg (essentially genocidal), vs. the Trek of the new movie in which its just, 'meh blow em up'.

6. The TNG or TOS crew resurrected/de-aged. I guess we're stuck with the new guys. I have to say the guy who played Bones was pretty good.

7. New Series- I'm iffy, I'm not sure there would ever be a truly 'Trek' show in the future with all the production/politics/run for money.

8. Memorable Episodes-

TNG- The Offspring with Data's Daughter; The Measure of a Man, The Defector, The Next Phase, Darmok, I Borg, Tapestry, Face of the Enemy.

DS9- Duet, Necessary Evil, Past Tense, Explorers, The Visitor, Return to Grace, The Quickening, Nor the Battle..., Far Beyond the Stars, Wrongs Darker than..., Inquisition, Things Past, In the Pale Moonlight, Treachery Faith & the Great River, Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges.

Key to a good TNG Episode is it usually features Data/Picard. Some of the best DS9 episodes were the ones where DS9 is Terok Nor.

Terrible Episodes- Some of the Ferengi comedy episodes were pretty bad.

1. Fav: TNG (after the first 2 seasons) and DS9. I'd watch TNG each weekk with my parents when I was younger. I loved it. Least: Enterprise and Voyager. I couldn't get into either.

2. DS9 had the best crew overall.

3. TNG

4. Fav: Picard, hands down. Least? I never really got into Enterprise or Voyager, so I'll say Kirk. It's probably the male chauvinism that annoys me, though.

5. Fav: First Contact. Least: Can't think of one offhand.

6. I'd have to say the new crew, because everyone else is so old. I like the idea of the alternate timeline, but would like more plot and less 'splodey stuff.

7. Hell yeah.

8. Too many great ones to list. Bad? All of TOS and the first seasons of TNG.
