The wife (Korean citizen) and I are seriously considering moving back to Korea after spending the last five years in the US. However, the one major thing holding us back from moving is the absolute dearth of positions in my career field (software development).

I spent my two years in Korea (2003-2005) teaching English, usually to teens and adults. While it wasn't the worst thing in the world, it definitely didn't give me much in the way of job satisfaction. I spent a while back then looking for software development jobs, but was not able to find much.

To be honest, I am not super-picky. While I work in .NET/C#/VB.NET software development, I would be more than happy to take something up in a related field.

For those who hold technology-related jobs (or know those who hold such jobs), how did you (or they) come across such jobs? What advice (other than 'you're screwed!') would you give to individuals looking for tech jobs?

(And yes, I realize this is an ESL board... but with it being one of the largest online expat communities for English speakers living in Korea, I figure it's as good a place to ask as any.)

I've seen ads for tech jobs.

Worknplay is the best shot you've got if you don't hunt on foot.

Worknplay is usually weak, though. Try them or Craigslist, newspapers, etc.

The places I have seen the best ads are on the ground, in Korean language school and by WOM. If I were you, I'd start by getting an English teaching part time job then you'd have flexibility to search and earn a little at the same time.
