|
|
Hi all -
I'm looking at flights home in August and the cheapest ones (or should I say lowest priced ones - none are cheap!) include a brief (2 or 3 hour) layover in China. I've done stopovers in China before with no problem, but it was with the same airlines. In this case, I'd be switching from China Air to Air Canada. Has anyone experienced this? Would they take care of the baggage switch on different airlines since I won't be going through customs since I won't have a visa? Or will I have to get a transit visa, go through customs and check in at the Air Canada counter and recheck my bags for that airline? Thanks. |

Assuming you are changing flights in Beijing you can get your 2nd boarding pass at the transit desk and also have your bags checked through to Canada. |

With 2-3 hours I wouldn't worry too much about it. The last time I was in Beijing they seemed to really have their act together (at the airport, anyway). |

Ttompatz - thanks. Could I still get the second boarding pass if it's a second airline though? Like will China Southern Airlines give me my boarding pass for Air Canada? |

I don't know if they are linked - ASK if they can when you get your initial boarding pass in Korea.
If they are, then yes you can get a boarding pass for both.
If they aren't then you have to go to the transit desk for your 2nd boarding pass - this is the most common when changing carriers in Asia (and other parts of the planet as well).
