In the past, I always just mailed my passport and Letter of Invitation to the Korean Consulate in NY. This year, the recruiter told me I needed to have a face to face interview at the consulate. Are all teachers coming from the USA now required to have a face to face interview at the Korean consulate?

Unless you live over 5 hrs drive away from the consulate I believe you now need a face to face interview. If you live further away than that then the consulate can consent to a webcam interview.

I know the Atlanta Consulate will not do any webcam interviews. I live 10 hours away and I need to fly there for my interview.

I was under the impression that if you've already held an E2 visa you were exempt from the interview. I know I was, but that was with the the consulate in Vancouver. Contact the consulate's office and ask.

The interview is not required IF you have had a previous E2 AND you have no black mark in your immigration file.

Face to face interview is normally best. It shows you really want the job.

Not talking about the job interview... the consular interview is just for the visa issuance - hard questions like:
Do you have a degree?
Do you take drugs?
Do you have a mental illness?
Do you have a criminal record?
Where did you get it from?
How long did it take?
Do you like Kimchi?
Do you know anything about Korea?

By the time you get there (to the consulate) you already have the contract and confirmation number so it has NOTHING to do with your job.
