I've see people mentioning it as a good place for last minute plane tickets. On average, what constitutes 'last minute' in that statement? A week before departure, a day, a month?

A couple of days, and you'll have to check with them if your reservation is good, especially for flights with no real-time reservation system on the site.

Why is it that real time reservation and purchase isn't available on Korean sites and through travel agencies? I'm doing many searches on 072 and WhyPayMore only to get quotes with 0 seats available. I'm not entirely sure if I could register and actually purchase through a website on my own. The searches are tedious and often the IE browser freezes up after about 10 searches. The Koreans would do well to adopt American software and website design models. Korean Air and Asiana don't put out international flight quotes in real time online. Why?

I did manage to get several travel agencies to produce quotes in 3 to 5 days of emailing them, but the quotes seem unreasonably high. Seems too limited on service in my opinion though it's easy to get almost any flight through American sites though usually a bit more than what Korean travel agents email you 3 to 5 days later.

I have no idea why Korean travel sites work in that manner. The few Koreans I've mentioned it to agree that it's horrible in comparison to western sites, but have no idea either why the sites are designed as such.

That's because many seats aren't available. I am keen on SE Asia but so are many other Koreans and travel agencies.

If you really want a ticket, call a travel agency but don't be surprised if the price ain't as cheap as you thought.

What they mean is - if seats aren't available for that flight, why show it in the search results? That's what makes a search take 10x longer.
