Koreans are work-out addicts; why not ask one of your co-workers or co-teacher?
usually there's also one attached to the local sauna - which are everywhere. have you been to a sauna yet? just ask about them, and it's pronounced "sowna" in Korea. |

Thanks-
I'm actually not in-country yet and just trying to decide where to accept a position. I think I'd like the atmosphere of a place like Chuncheon more than Seoul but not at the expense of my workout routine.
Work-out addicts? I was in Korea about 10 years ago (military) and that was not the case then. Guess things have changed for the better |

Gyms here are not at all what you are probably used to at home. They tend to be small without the variety of machines and amenities that at least I had come to expect in a gym. They are also more expensive. Once you are used to that idea, you can find something that meets your needs.
There is a gym next door to my apartment that seems decent compared to some of the gyms I've seen in Korea. It has quite a few treadmills, a few (non-electric) elliptical machines, free weights, weight machines, and an aerobics studio upstairs. It costs 55,000 won per month. I haven't joined yet but I probably will next month.
There is also a place called Hoban gymnasium which I haven't been to yet but I'm told it has an indoor pool and some ball courts - can't remember which ones.
Saunas are very nice if you can find a gym with one in the same building. |

| There's a western-style gym in the downtown area of Chuncheon - can't remember the name, but it's across the street from M Department store and they have the same cardio & weight equipment that you'd find at a smaller gym in North America. They also have classes like yoga, pilates and spinning. One of many in town. Nothing to worry about. |
