| I need an espresso machine, preferably with a steam wand. Anyone know a place that sells them? |

All the Korean department stores sell them.......but you'll need about a months salary!
Seriously, espresso equipment is usually around 50-100% more expensive here than the west.

ur right, my Saeco (back in Canada) costs 3 times more in seoul than anywhere else...high import tax...
anyway, i have a CEBO automatic machine. it makes cappuccinos, although they arent really that great.
i just use it for espressos in the morning. ill be leaving in a few months time. if you can wait, ill sell it to you for a good price. |

A chunk of it is import tax, but the majority of the price differential is due to the fact that espresso machines have become a status symbol in the last two or three years here......retailers can hike up the price because middle-class Koreans desire espresso machines.
I remember when I first came to Korea in 2000 I noticed barely one or two espresso machines in the department stores......now there's 12-15.......Koreans are going nuts for home espresso.........or maybe the fad has already passed!! |
