Hi all,

Does anyone have information on the hagwon in Bucheon called "Bucheon ECC" or previous experience with Teacher Tech Recruiters (Madeline Moon, in particular)?

Madeline set up an interview for me with the current Head English teacher at the ECC and it seemed to go over well, but she said that I had to make a decision in the next 2 days. TWO DAYS? This doesn't seem normal. I almost feel pushed into it!

I posted the contract on the "contracts only" thread to get a review here:
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=59265&start=2655 (aweitzm1 gave it a look over and gave his advice, first post).

Regarding the terms of the contract and how "loose" it seems in English, is there any way of knowing that the changes have been applied in Korean if my recruiter is able to ask the school to modify it? Or, if it's just a translation error, can I trust my recruiter to tell me or should I get them to change the English portion? I'm not sure if I'm at liberty to do this.

Thank you very much for the help. I enjoy getting most of my research from these forums and you all have helped me (a lurker) so much. :]

Edit: I've been trying to access the "Search" function of the forums for a while now... are they not working correctly? I would search for this info without making a new thread but it doesn't seem to work. : /

Quick question... is A/C included in most apartments in the Seoul area? I'm sure it's common to find them, but would they really hook up a foreigner in one without A/C?

If you don't get an apartment with A/C included, what can you do to get cool air in there? Or just avoid it like the plague?

Here I'm spoiled... I find it really difficult to sleep without A/C... a fan helps, but you might be able to sympathize.

Anyway, how popular would you say, in your opinion, having A/C included is in apartments in the Seoul area?

I've been watching a lot of videos on youtube of teachers in korea showing their apartments and the majority of them (prob 90 percent or so?) have AC. But I'm not over there yet so I really couldn't say for sure!

AC is common but it's not entirely unheard of to go without. If you're that worried I'd ask.

Madelein Moon was my first recruiter, I think, way back in the day. She was fine, tho she set me up with my first job here (w/ SLP), which was also my worst.

Many schools ask applicants to make a decision fast. It's not necessarily a red flag thing.

PM me and I'll go check out the school in person.

Bleh. She's been helpful so far, and while I feel like she's pushing me to make a decision as fast as possible, I can also see that's the norm. Recruiters obviously get paid for how many students they successfully place in jobs, no matter who they're with or what kind of employer it is.

Trog - I sent you a reply PM with more detailed information, but thank you very much for the offer. :]
