|
|
I recently had to open an account with Woori Bank. Apparently I can send money home using their internet banking service. I applied for their internet banking and was given a card with a whole bunch of numbers on. Not sure what any of it means. I've tried to log in once (using Firefox and Internet Explorer) but nothing happens when I click on the 'English' tab. Is anyone out there successfully using their internet banking and able to send money home? |

Yes and yes. Make sure you enable popups and then install the security software they prompt...without it you can't do anything. |

The card with the numbers is their outdated "security measure." Whenever you make a transfer, the website will prompt you to enter, for example, column #22, 1st two digits and column # 2, 2nd two digits.
So hang on to your card or you'll be in red tape hell! |

thanks guys for your help. Spent a good 2 hours last night trying to get it to work and finally managed to do so after an hour but then hit a roadblock of not being able to log in or get security certificates etc.
I was told I can also use an ATM to send money home? Do I need any special passwords to be able to do that? Is it easy enough? Don't really have time to sit around in a bank except for Saturdy - not sure if Woori is open then. |

A similar thing happened to me with but with KB Star internet banking

I think the problem is with the security certificates, and their compatibility with your browser and OS. I wasn't able to do it with Windows 7, or Firefox, but using my school's computer, Windows XP and IE6, it worked fine. |

Google Toolbar can interfere with Woori's online security. Try uninstalling it and see what happens. |

I signed up for internet banking and it was a nightmare. It took about an hour to install everythign I needed.
You need something called "ansim click" and then there was another security thing. The lady at the Woori call centre walked me through it, but now a year later I can check my balance but when I try to do anything more it asks for the password I set ( i think i had to choose 3 or 4 passwords and codes) and no matter which one I enter, it doesn't work.
But yes, it can be complicated ( or it was for me anyway) |

well I'm thinking my best bet is to do the transfer using the ATM. I opened my account in the Itaewon branch and the kind teller showed me the 2 differrent ways to send money using the ATM. ALbeit very briefly but I did notice on one of the methods, my home country account appeared on the screen. I really can't remember if I had to enter any special security pin numbers. When I go to my local Woori Bank, nowhere near Itaewon, I click on the International Money Transfer button and somewhere along the prompts I'm asked to enter in my 3 digit Personalised International Monetary Transfer pin number!
Would the call centre people be able to give me it over the phone? I know when I opened my account I was asked to provide so many numbers... I urgently gotta send some cash home but don't have time during normal working hours to walk into the bank. Otherwise I'll have to wait til Saturday and wire using Western Union at IBK in Itaewon which will cost heaps |

I doubt you could get that kind of info on the phone, but maybe call them and see if they can reset passwords or something.

Yes, the Korean site works fine for me. I didn't even know they had an English site. |
