I have friends who are mac fanatics here in Korea and they are eagerly awaiting the new iphone. When will it be available here in Korea and how much will it cost? I am not enirely sold on Iphones but many people in Korea are. Also the few foreigners I know with Iphones want to trade their old Iphones(some are only 6 months old). Rolling Eyes

Ignoring the fact that this should be in the Technology forum, I'll retort.

The iPhone 4 is a significant upgrade from the 3GS. The software will be the same for both phones, but the iPhone 4 is more than just "cosmetic". Its got a bigger and longer running battery but the phone is like 33% thinner. The 3GS outer metal frame is the antennae, whereas the iPhone 4 has a solid metal cage which is the ENTIRE PHONE as the antennae. Users can expect better singal strength for 3G, Wifi, and the AGPS.

The forward facing camera will not only be used for video conferencing, but it can introduce a new wave of Apps that can take advantage of facial recognition. The screen resolution on it is superb. Not to mention the upgraded processor and more memory.

If KT had some kind of good "upgrade" plan then I think the Iphone 4 is worth it. However, the current method of upgrading which is mentioned in the Iphone 4 thread in the TEchnology forum, makes it uneconomical to upgrade to the Iphone 4 from a 3GS.

I'm pretty sure it also has a better processor to facilitate better backgrounding.

Anyway, I haven't seen anything on the release date in the ROK yet. Apple said 22 (unidentified) countries will get it in Aug, and another 44 in Sept....so more than likely at the latest it'll be here in Sept.

According to the keynote, S. Korea is supposed to get the iPhone in July, no word on the exact date yet.
