Im just curious,

How long did it take you/how many interviews did it take to land a contract?

So far we've had 3 interviews with schools, and while I know everyone is different I'm curious to know what some of your experiences have been so far and perhaps what we can expect. We have been handing out resumes and coverletters all over the place..

My partner and I have been applying to several recruiters for hagwon jobs and hope to be in Korea for late August or early September.

I just got an offer after about 6 months. The bad economy in the US and some other countries has driven more over seas looking for jobs. So schools get to be more picky. Do as many interviews and send resumes to as many places as possible.

It took me about a two weeks and I was doing it around this same time last year. But I was dealing with 4 or 5 recruiters (only 3 really vigorously, though) and scheduling multiple interviews a day. The first week was mainly sending emails and my resume around and inquiring about specific listed jobs and interviewing with recruiter. The 2nd week was like 3 interviews a night for a few days. The positive thing about this is when you've done enough interviews it starts to feel really natural and you relax more and get out of the interview mode and into the "I don't care if you hire me" mode which strangely enough is the mood I am in whenever I do well at an interview.

Long story short, just get as many offers as you can by doing as many interviews as you can and just choose the best looking contract. How much time do you want to take?

I just landed a contract 2 weeks ago. I had applied with 3 recruiters and 2 schools directly. Got the first interview and contract through 1 recruiter and then the second interview and contract through 1 school directly. I took the contract with the school that I directly applied to.

All in all from the time I sent out my first resume, it took approx 2-3 weeks to land and accept the position.

Good luck!!

Are you serious? lol

I'm waiting back to hear from EPIK to see if they give me a NOA/Contract, but if not I was going to start applying to various jobs. Could do a resume update! Razz

Am I serious? I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader.

Well, I asked that question-- what a week ago? We were on the job hunt for about 3 weeks total, had probably 5 or 6 interviews and we were given 2 offers so far--both of which have checked out and we're deciding between the two of them.

We still havent heard back from the other interviews but I wasn't really dead set on any of those schools anyway-- recruiters basically only finding interviews for me for public schools and "hoping" they would be able to place me and the future husband together nearby.

I honestly went through a $hiteload of recruiters, just to make sure we were seeing all that was being offered-- some recruiters even suggested this when I mentioned we were trying to come over as a couple......

Korvia, Teach ESL korea, footprints, ESL world, morgan recruiting, think outside, OK Recruiting....There might have been a few others. I was offered 2 public school jobs (where they only hired me and not the signif. other) and 2 hagwon jobs where we were offered couples positions.

I ended up going through OK recruiting, for a position in Ilsan. Fingers crossed I havent screwed us over but I've been doing my due dilligence and asking tons of questions and sending out tons of emails before I signed the dotted line!
