Has anyone had any problems with going to Amsterdam as far as your schools are concerned? I mean, I'm the paranoid type, so I'm afraid to even tell anyone at my school that that's where I plan on going this summer. They wouldn't, like, test me or anything when I get back, would they? I know what you might be thinking; most Koreans probably wouldn't realize why I'm going there anyway, and I agree, but my school is run by an American and her Korean husband.

I'm probably just stressing over nothing as usual, but like I said, I don't even wanna tell um that's where I'm going. I'm about to say I'm going to Germany or something. Lemme know what y'all think, 'kay? Thanks.

I told them I was going to Holland and Germany. They were cool. Smoked a big fatty by hostel a couple of times before I eventually made my way down the Rhine. Very cool place btw. I highly recommend renting a bike though and heading out into the country side. It is jawdroppingly gorgeous.

use ambiguous words like "Europe", "going around", "not sure yet"

don't use the 'A' word as that will likely see you visiting a pee cup (if your boss is gestapo enough)

and don't take pictures of spliffs.

I think your fine man. Koreans love talking about their travels in Europe.
Just don't drop the A-bomb and your fine.

Sidenote- did you do any research on ticket prices yet? I'm thinkin about going to Europe over my summer vacation as well...

New questions about the Amsterdam trip. I just bought the ticket, (no questions asked when I requested the time off) but I recently read online that drug sniffing dogs can smell cannabis in your clothes. Is this gonna be a problem when I get back? What if I'm not wearing the clothes I smoked in and they're in my bag in a vacuum-sealed travel bag? Am I in big trouble if they find out I went somewhere else and smoked? I'm thinking I could just EAT hash foods the whole trip instead of smoking it, but even then, I'd be a little concerned about them smelling it on my breath. It sounds pretty tough to get past the damn dogs. I mean, maybe I won't even see um when I get back, but if I were the Korean police and I was gonna use dogs to check people at the airport, I'd start with the people coming back from Amsterdam. I'm still planning to make the trip, 'cause I think the odds of getting busted are pretty low, especially if I just eat everything, but I wanna know what the consensus is on this.

Thanks, guys.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Seriously dude, if you're this paranoid now, maybe going to Amsterdam isn't such a good idea....

You won't see a bunch of huge, snarling police dogs? How stoned are you gonna get? Wink

You'll be fine. If you're worried, wear cheap clothes and throw them away.

Just don't bring your airplane luggage to any place where you smoke. In the Calgary airport one time, the security officer did some sort of intensive surface swabbing check on one of my carry on bags. I wonder if it's possibly because there may have been some miniscule amount of something on it (the bag was an old one I've had since my "college daze" when, uh, I had friends and roomates who may have occasionally partook in smoking something which may not have been a clove cigarette)

I've never seen them either, but while I was looking for information about it, I came across an article that said South Korea found a dog that was so good at finding drugs they cloned it. Let me repeat that. They cloned a dog because it was so good at finding drugs. There are five of the same dog sniffing bags at Incheon right now. I don't know how often they use um, but they've got um. I'm thinking maybe they only use um on checked bags and not carry-on.

Honestly, I'm not that worried about it. I'm still gonna go. I might eat most of my stuff while I'm there, but I'm going.

I smoked a big fatty there last summer and made sure to have a bit of extra for the bike trips I took through the countryside, which I also highly recommend. Leiden is well worth the pedal power and so is Naarden. Espeically if you are into castles and old fortifications. Also if you don't get drunk at the brewery under the De Goyer Windmill you should be ashamed of yourself. The Heineken brewery is nothing but a bunch of flashy lights. They actually make the stuff at this place and in Belgian style. Ended up meeting some really cool locals there which lead to a great night on the town going to some amazing little pubs and drinking holes. But ya as long as you remember to ditch the weed you accumulate before you leave and don't waltz in the door proclaiming in a loud booming voice about how stoned you were it is no problem. Just extol and regale them with stories of castles and museums and stuff like that. Speaking of which, the Anne Frank Museum and The Van Gogh Museum are a must.

If you found a ton of pot on the Sun and it burnt up, would everyone on Earth get high? It's Europe. One of my co-teachers always talks about her dream to take a Summer vacation to Paris, London, and Amsterdam. What I don't tell her about is how you could find a ton of pot burning up in Amsterdam central making everyone get high. Just turn them onto Rick Steves and Rudy Maxa to give them a phony idea of why you go to a party capital of the world.

If you don't have drugs, you don't have to worry.

Let me repeat that.

If you don't have any drugs in your carry-on, in your clothes, in your sock, you are free and clear.

By the way, when are you going to the "Dam? Have you been before?

I fondly recall my trip to Amsterdam. Don't remember half of it... and went way over budget. But it was great!

yeah Amsterdam is ridiculously expensive. The rest of Holland is nowhere near as evil when it comes to the euros.
