Anyone here ever do some Legal, casual gambling?
I now live near a Lotto place... at least I think that's what it is... and I'm just curious on it. I've never been to a casino, but if I ever have a few hundred bucks I could absolutely live without, I might give it a try. I used to buy scratch offs occasionally back home, whenever I'd drive through a state that had them (I'm from Alabama. We don't even allow alcohol sales on Sunday, much less any legalized form of gambling)
So I'm just a little curious as to how it all works here. Is it even open to foreigners? Anyone here ever have any luck? |

I've been buying a Lotto ticket a week for the last couple of years, and have won about one quarter of my money back. Of course it's open to foreigners, although my old co-teacher commented that it "wouldn't be fair to Koreans" if I won it, which annoyed me. |

Yes it's open to foreigners. About 5 years ago a Nigerian won about 2 billion-won. Usually the jackpots hover around 10 billion-won, however there are usually about 5 winners every single week, so the payout will average around 2 billion-won.
And if you win you'll get taxed about 30%. So if you get 4 numbers right, which will come out to 30,000-won or over, you'll get taxed you right off the bat. |

Saturday nights. You choose 6/45 numbers, 3 numbers will get you 5000 won. You can claim that at any ticket vendor. If you get 4 or more numbers right you'll have to go to a NHBank, with your ARC, to claim your prize. That's where they'll tax you. If you win something significant you'll have to make a trip to Seoul. I believe you have a year to claim any prize (not too sure about that one).
PS. If you win, I get a percentage |

According to the papers, he was a factory working somewhere in Gyeonggi province and was there a few years before his win. So most likely the money was deposited into his Korean bank account.
He probably is living quite well in Nigeria now. |

I figured it would've been one of those princes that finally hit it big. |
