|
|
Hey guys, does anyone know how I can unlock my SK telecom blackberry so I can use it with Tmobile while in the States?
I'm tired of paying around 130k/month for my blackberry services when all I get is 100mb of data (yes, I talk and text alot for work and I'm paying about 30k a month for the subsidized phone). I'm thinking of switching to KT and going with an iPhone since I'll probably pay a lot less than what I'm paying now and be able to use more data.
I'll keep my bold to use when I'm in the States for business and with my existing t-mobile account.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Thanks Half,
But the thing is, I need to know if I can unlock a KOREAN BB and use it in the States. I know you can unlock BB's from Hong Kong or other places and use it in the States, but from what I've heard, Korea and Japan use a different type of bandwidth or something (not too familiar with how that goes) that may make it difficult to unlock and use in the States.
Can anyone confirm/deny this?
Better yet, anyone buy a bold here in Korea and moved to the States and use it there? |

It's a really good question. I wish there were some sort of "tech forum" where you could ask your question. |

the bold you bought from sktel is the same bold as you would buy in the states... that different bandwidth is from the last generation of phones or the phones you would get through lg. sktel and show are using usim cards on a 3.5g ntwk akin to rogers in canada or at&t in the states...
you can easily unlock the sk berry and use it anywhere you want.
id however consider selling it in korea...

I am pretty sure that Korean phone companies are required by law to unlock your phone, if you ask. Try asking SK to unlock it. |

So I looked around the net and although I'm sure there are ways to do this without paying for it, I'm willing to fork over a few bucks to get this done.
http://www.cellunlock.net/Contact_Us_s/21.htm
Turns out the site above has unlocked plenty of SK BBs (I emailed them to ask).
For me, this is perfect as my US based BB Pearl broke on my last trip to the States so my SK BB will be my new US phone and I'll be picking up the Iphone 4 here in Korea.
So in case anyone was wondering still, problem solved! |
