|
|
i want an ebook reader which can read pdf files natively (Korean AND English fonts) and which can also allow you to write notes on it. With paper I like to scribble notes on my sheet which I can then ask koreans to explain to me afterwards (I am studying Korean) . However, it's a lot of hassle to be carrying tons of paper so an ebook reader makes sense.
Which one do you recommend? |

| I'd love an e-reader that lets you take notes on PDFs and highlight etc. So that Sony model does notes at least? |

Freehand highlighting & annotationTake freehand notes and highlight sections of text you want to revisit later, just as you would in a real book, using the included stylus. If you prefer, a virtual keyboard is also available for entering quick notes or searching your eBooks. If you want, you can even export your notes to your computer using the Reader Library software.

Sweet! As an owner, how easy are you finding it to buy ebooks for your Sony e-reader? |

If I ever break down and actually buy an e-book I'll let you know...
http://www.truly-free.org/ (down at the moment it looks like) is an awesome site for books... Otherwise I torrent
Sony has their own ebook store similar to that for the kindle though... Download to your desktop, pop the files into the library program, then upload those to your ereader... Takes all of 2 minutes maybe? |

| Can I get the prs 600 touch edition in yongsan? I have a friend visiting me in Seoul from Osaka, Japan soon. Are Sony products generally cheaper there? If so I could get her to bring one over for me. |

Someone in the B/S/T forum had one for a good price and I jumped on it... |

| I have the lower end Sony which allows bookmarks but no note taking- I considered the higher end one, but the glare created by adding the touch screen was too much for me (see it for yourself at Yongsan or check youtube for many videos). A number of upcoming ereader advances may overcome this, but if you want to avoid glare and still take notes your main option is a physical keyboard like what the kindle has- but that adds quite a bit of bulk and isn't exactly typing friendly. buying ebooks on the sony store was easy- the selection is huge BUT the amazon selection is bigger. one thing i like about the sony though is it seems to do a better job at eating pdf books acquired from various sources- the kindle can read them too but requires an annoying conversion process or you're stuck with only one level of zoom. |

The glare on the 600 doesn't really bother me... I've never been able to not read somewhere because of it... Usually just involves me making a half inch change to how I'm holding it.
My GF has the 505... I like it as well, though having spent time with the touch screen I've grown attached to it, lol... (Also nice to be able to highlight dem big ole words in der text and have that there dictionary thing pop up an' tell me what dey means! ) |

Really? I was in Yongsan today and could not find a single ebook reader, Korean or otherwise. I asked the several people for help but no luck. |
