Just wanted to know if anyone sent a musical instrument such as a guitar as baggage? |

Despite what you may have heard from the Internets, the airline has little or nothing to do with the way your luggage is handled. The majority of its trip is spent in an automated sortation system. Except at hub cities, these are shared between/among airlines.
Protip: If you're concerned for how your guitar will survive the flight, ask for details about your originating and connecting airport *terminals*, not the airline. |

Everything I've ever sent through the air has arrived perfectly intact with no problems. Tell them it is very fragile, and they'll often let you take it to the special luggage dept. where they take extra care of it. I've many-a-time brought my electronic keyboard around, and no problems... despite it being quite fragile. Also brought my Apple iMac here without a hitch. |

Can't say I've flown JAL specifically, but as an above poster said, the survival of your luggage isn't usually airline specific.
That being said, I've checked my violin several times, both domestically in the US and flying over to Korea and have not had a problem. |
