Hi,

I have an international bank card from Shin Han and I'm in China. Is there a specific, special bank machine/bank where I can use it?

*bump*

Anyone run into any problems with their Shinhan international bank card in China? Mine's also a check card (Master Card, but not a credit card).

I was told at shin han's international banking center that shin han doesn't give out international banking cards to foreigners. They could however give me a credit card that would work overseas.

Well they gave me one last month. There's a Master Card logo and "check" written on the side. They couldn't explain it to me well enough, but it seemed that maybe I could use it for purchases, but unable to withdraw money. Shinhan has some office here in Shanghai and I'll pay them a visit. In the meantime, I'll see if i can buy things with it.

My card works!

I had only been trying to check the balance and no machines were letting me. Before today, I hadn't even tried to withdraw money. Tried today and no problem.

So a regular international Shinhan check card works in China.

People who have been told they don't issue them have been misinformed. I got one with no visa status at all. I was overstaying when I had them replace my regular check card with an international check card. In fact, I think I might've had no work visa (or could've been overstaying) when I got the check card. Ha.

It's all in how you approach them. I may reveal my secrets someday. For money.
