Hello All
I'm hoping to find an older friend who wants to teach in Busan. While I'm adventureous I can be a little skiddish about going to a foreign country by myself for the first time (for a long period of time i.e. a year or longer).
I'm 56 years old and would like to find a friend to come with me to Busan where I plan to teach English.
Write me if you are interested.

Therese,
Most people that come to Korea, come by themselves (no family, no anything). It's pretty easy to meet people if you find foreigner hangouts, most people are really friendly and will help you when you are new to Korea. It's got to be a very scary thing for most people who've never been abroad, but you'll have a great time and might never want to go back home! I've been here almost a year, love teaching, love Korea and will be staying another year because of it. It just goes to show that a person can go to a new country for the first time, really enjoy the job/life, meet cool people and do it all by themselves.
Hope you find what you're looking for! Good luck!

I agree with the poster above. You're wasting your time looking to meet someone before you come to Korea. Just go to Korea, then you'll meet people there. It's what most people do. |

It all depends on you. If you are normal (not a cat lady) and don't mind the company of 20-somethings you'll be fine. When I taught in the Czech Republic one of my best drinking partners was a 60 year old Mormon. |

A lot of expat groups in Korea, the ones that are not douvhebags, will not discriminate against you because of your age. As long as you're nice and they're nice, they'll include you in their group.
Also, you could try getting a job at a school with at least 1 more foreign teacher. |
