Well, I've been studying on my own for a while now in Canada and feel like I'm doing fairly good. I can chat with my friends and my girlfriend, and read common stuff. But I think that when I get to Korea I will be lost in situations that require specialized vocabulary, such as opening a bank account or dealing with immigration for an ARC card.

Are there any websites or books that teach Korean words and example sentences in these situations?

It sounds like you have fluent Korean speaking friends. If I were you I'd ask them what to ask. Then, I'd write down the questions and answers and memorize them. That's the most direct way to do it.

I would agree with this one!

I learned a bit from my Korean friends. Smile It's better if you get to actually have a conversation with them all the time. Helps a lot.

Thanks HalfJapanese. I'll learn all these and report back. I will also update this with anything I find.

The problem with friends is they never know where to start unless you have specific questions to ask them. I like starting with a lesson first.
