i don't know if anyone else has had a problem with this..my contract finishes august 10..so i have to work that day..but also my visa expires that day..so am i expected to rush to incheon that very night? i am in the process of looking into a visa extension for a week or so but i am wondering if this is a common problem.
if i just went to incheon on august 14 and left that day would that be okay or is it a bad idea? |

Yes, you do need an extension. You can either go to the immi office in person, or do it online. You need a plane ticket out of the country to do this. If the immi people ask why you're staying a few extra days, the correct answer is to sort out your bank stuff, bills etc.
Try to do this a few weeks in advance. Nag your boss for the plane ticket until you get it. |

Get an extension. It is simple and free. It can be done on-line (with the use of a fax or scanner) or at your local immigration office (takes about 15 minutes after you get to the counter).
You need your ticket, your passport and your ARC.
You can do it any time within the last 30 days of your ARC and extend for up to 30 days beyond your ARC's expiry (until the date of the ticket).
Failing to do so will complicate ANY attempt to return to Korea for work in the future (should you ever decide to come back).
It will also result in delays at the airport when you do attempt to leave (because of your illegal status if you end up in an overstay position).

| i read elsewhere that you have 24 hours after the visa has expired..does that mean i could exit on the 11th august when my visa expires on the 10th? |

No - you MUST be through passport control by midnight of the last date indicated on your ARC or you will be classed as an overstay.
