With all the silly politics surrounding recruiters, has anyone had any luck just dolling themselves up and dropping off resumes directly at schools?
I'm hoping to track down some decent looking schools in some choice neighbourhoods since recruiters always want to stick me in Nowon or some other unliveable corner of Korea.
Also, how would a person find more non-traditional schools? Arts schools, Drama schools, Science schools, etc? Is there hope for this non-conformist to score a gig that doesn't have me correcting apostrophe usage all day?
Thanks, chaps! |

Try an English Village.
You can go check it out and see what they are up to.
Not all are the same, so have a look at ones that interest you. |

An English Village, really! I had been under the impression that they were all of the "Dance monkey dance" philosophy of teaching. I'll give that a shot. |

Though what would be really cool would be a montessori type setup, or some other learning-through-experience kind of school. Perhaps that's asking too much in cram-happy KR.. |

make some K friends and ask them about where one would study the subjects you are interested in - if they are unmarried, they may not be familiar with the primary and secondary schools (no children, no reason to know) but will know which unis to contact.
parents will be able to tell you about the above; perhaps one of your students' mother speaks E well enough to discuss this? many mothers are anxious to talk to their child's teacher anyway - this would be a good way to start.
also if you are in ps - there's usually an art teacher and a science teacher - if they speak E they can help you also if they speak E; but if you don't want others to know you are asking then stick with my first suggestion above. |
