Doesn't mean it's always legal. There have been some busts before. |

I wouldn't take the risk. I knew a few guys that DJ'd here a number of years back. They don't DJ here anymore. In fact they don't live here anymore....because they DJ'd here. |

not advocating doing it but just weigh up the pros and cons first
a smaller club should be fine |

| I know many expat DJs, some play out more than once a week and promote like crazy. They all teach or do something else non-dj related for their regular paycheck. And they've been doing it foe years. If you can get gigs, immigration is the least of your problems. |

| Just curious, but if you DJ for free there's no problem, right? It's only those who do it for pay (even if it's small pay)? What if it's in exchange for goods, like a case of beer or something? There's no tax on bartered goods so I presume it's okay? Or is it different here? |

Technically, DJing for free is the only legal way to do it. But payment is so informal and always done in cash, so there's no paper trail. Besides, very few if any DJs in Korea make enough to support themselves only by DJing, so the only reason immigration would clamp down on those people would be for other reasons.
The only DJs I know who've gotten in trouble with the law are the ones who aren't careful about getting involved with drugs.
Like I alluded to before, immigration is the least of your problems if you can get gigs, not get screwed over by promoters/club owners, can beat match, not have equipment issues at the venue and play to crowds who like your tunes. |
