I was wondering if anyone had any information/experience in getting an F2 visa abroad (spousal visa). I am in Canada, but may return to Korea to work. I have had an E2 visa before, but never an F2. Can an F2 visa be issued from the Korean embassy in Canada or do I need to get a job/E2 visa and then apply for the F2 once I am in Korea? It would seem that it would be to my advantage to get an F2 before landing a job, but not sure if this is even possible. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out.

Why not call the embassy and see what THEY say? Wouldn't that be smarter? |

Well I assume there are people out there who have experience with this and can provide a much more useful answer than yours. |

Hi there! I'm in the process of actually getting my F2 Visa from Canada. I had it for several years prior but came back to Canada for a few years.
I had my wife call the Korean embassy in Vancouver and she found the appropriate document to fill in.
The downside of this is: the F2 Visa that you get while in Canada will only last 3 months, then it should be renewed at that immigration office with your wife! Bummer! So, my wife may have to come back to Korea, herself to extend at that point. Though we'll investigate other possiblities.
Good luck! |

MrBondaygee... you must be putting in a late shift at the embassy
Thanks for the response. 2 questions for you:
Did your wife have to do anything in Vancouver?
Did having a previous F2 visa have any impact on being able to get it in Vancouver?
Thanks again. Cheers |
