|
|
I just got a job offer for Gimpo at an SLP. Pretty standard contract, 2.1 and all the Korean labor laws considering Pension and insurance seems to be in there.
One complaint is they want to pay the severance via bank transfer after a month of contract expiration.
Anyone want to comment on Gimpo and SLP institute? I would be much appreciative.
thanks |

I had a friend who lived in Gimpo, they liked it alright. Anyone else have any info about Gimpo? I cant tell the OP anything good or bad because I have never been. |

depends on where it is.
If you are near the subway station it really isnt very far outside of the middle of Seoul. But the actual Gimpo area is pretty huge and you could be on a 30-40 minute bus ride to get to a subway station, in which case, pass. Unless of course you dont mind being so far outside of Seoul. |

Gimpo sits between Ilsan and Seoul and yes, is pretty spread out, huge in fact.
some areas are pretty quiet and nice but a lot of construction going on
pretty good bus system but some areas taxis might be hard to find, just because of traffic and suburban area
might be good if you have a scooter? |

Thanks for the tips all. One of the other Ft's from the school emailed me and said it was an alright school and she has been there more than a year. She says the subway station is about 15 minutes from the school by bus, so not too far out.
It seems like an alright job, especially if they follow the law and the contract, which is really important to me.
I looked up SLP on here and found some horror stories, but at the same time, I think a lot depends on the director. |

if the teacher has been there over a year, ask her if she got her first severance pay, and how she got it.
a place not willing to give it on your last day makes a nerve-filled situation all the worse. and if you are only planning a year, the opportunity to get it back if you are out-of-country is that much worse.
Just saying... |
